Seventh highest peak
![]()
t 26,7595, this is the
highest mountain that is completely inside the Nepal boundary. This giant peak is also the
highest residual mountain of the world, the only of its kind in the Himalayas (fold
mountains). As oppose to its neighboring peak, Annapurna, trekkers seldomly attempt
to travel to this side of the deepest gorge of the world. The gorge (over 6,000 m 20,000
ft) deep is infact the valley between this giant in the west and Annapurna in the east. Dhaulagiris is perhaps the largest
mountain in base diameter at the base camp. Adventure Makalu announces one rare trekking package to see this rock giant from all the four direction. 1. Around Dhaulagiri, An interesting trek to this mountain is rare and very seldomly done.
Around Dhaulagiri Trek (Sep-Nov, April-May) We begin the trek at the lowlands of Baglung inhabited by the Brahmins and Chhetries. Gradually as we gain altitude we come across the Gurung and Magar Tribes. Beginning from Sal and Pristine Pine forest, the trail foes to barren lands from where we embark on mountain experience with the exquisite Dhaulagiri in front of us. We cross the French Pass and then the Dhampus Pass which offers the breath-taking view of the Dhaulagiri Range, the Annapurna Range, Nilgiri and a look at the deepeest gorge in the world, the Kaligandaki gorge. We finish the trek at Jomsom.
