KATHMANDU VALLEY The largest peice of flat ground in the mountains, the Kathmandu Valley dominates Nepal's political, cultural, economic and spiritual life. The valley is Nepal, in name as well as fact. In ancient times the valley was called the Nepal Khalto (Nepal Valley) or simply Nepal.
CITIES OF NEPAL There are numerous cities in the country, both modern and traditional. Cities like Kathmandu, Patan, Bhaktapur and Kirtipur used be town kingdoms in the medieval period which dominated the craftmanship of the country. Lumbini, the birth place of Gautam Buddha, the light of Asia, is undoubtly the mecca for peace-lovers. pokhara is another valley among the mountains, from where the moutanins seem to approach you. Tansen, Dhulikhel and Nagarkot are other hilly Newar towns from where the scenic views are just too picturewque.
